Biofilter at Claudius Crozet Park

Planting and maintaining a municipal biofilter in conjunction with local government helps to improve the quality of local waterways and also beautifies a public park. Plants for a biofilter must tolerate both moisture and drought and, in this instance, be deer resistant. Native plants installed by Rivanna include:

Viburnum prunifolium, Vernonia angustifolia (iron weed), Heliantus augustifolius (narrow leaved sunflowers), Panicum Heavy Metal, Panicum Shenandoah, Lobelia Cardinalis (Cardinal Flower), Eupatorium perfoliatum (Gateway Joe Pye Weed)
